| About the LGS |
The Lacey Green Singers, originally known as the Community Choir, was founded in 1982 by Will McBurnie then a teacher at St John's School, with the intention of singing for enjoyment. Over the years, the choir has given regular performances in St John's Church, summer concerts in the barn at Speen Farm and at Pigotts, and has made occasional appearances at weddings and other functions in the area. The choir aims to perform at least three concerts a year. The Lacey Green Singers have always performed a wide range of music. Past concerts include 'The Faure Requiem', Purcell's 'Dido and Aeneas', 'Toward the Unknown Region' by Vaughan Williams, the 'Rutter Requiem', 'The Armed Man' as well as numerous folk songs and traditional pieces. Throughout its existence Lacey Green Singers has maintained the original objective of singing for pleasure and entertainment. Our present membership is drawn from a wide area around the village of Lacey Green, Bucks. Lacey Green Singers is a non-profit making choir, and is a member of the Making Music organisation. |
